Here are a few suggestions to prepare your home for sale.  The key is to present a clean, spacious, clutter-free home.  With the proper preparation your home will make a great first impression - helping you realize its maximum value.

Take a careful look at each of these areas.

Home Exterior

• Take stains off driveway
• Clean and repair patio/decks
• Remove outdoor furniture in poor condition
• Clean pool or spa
• Repair broken windows and shutters
• Replace broken screens
• Hose off exterior wood and trim
• Touch up exterior paint
• Repair and clean gutters and eaves
• Add new front door mat
• Clean outdoor lighting fixtures, hardware, etc.
• Ensure doorbell is in good working condition

Home Interior

• Add a fresh coat of paint in neutral colors
• Shampoo or steam clean carpets, replace if needed
• Clean and wash kitchen and bathroom floors
• Wash all windows, blinds and window sills
• Clean the fireplace
• Clean and organize all closets
• Remove extra furniture
• Repair minor problems (e.g doors, taps, toilets,etc.)
• Secure jewelry, prescription drugs and valuables

Yard

• Mow lawn
• Trim shrubs
• Edge gardens and walkways
• Sweep walkways and driveways
• Mend fences and gates
• Add plants to bare areas

Living Room

• Make it cozy and inviting
• Discard old, worn furniture
• Discard or replace old, worn rugs

Kitchen

• Make sure appliances are spotless inside and out
• Make sure all appliances work
• Clean on top of refrigerators and under sinks
• Wax or clean floors and clean baseboards
• Unclutter counters and remove extra appliances
• Organize items in cabinets and pantry

Bathrooms

• Remove all rust, mold and mildew
• Make sure all tile, fixtures, etc. are immaculate
• Make sure all fixtures are in good working order
• Replace loose caulking or grout
• Make sure lighting is bright

Bedrooms

• Organize furnishings to create a spacious look
• Organize and clean out all closets.

Garage

• Dispose of all unnecessary items
• Clean oily cement floor
• Provide strong overhead light
• Tidy storage or work area
